Yeast Experiment

Each lab group needs to complete a lab report on the yeast experiment to determine if yeast cells are able to break down lactose to produce carbon dioxide using cellular respiration. Two flasks should be used for this experiment, one with 5 grams of lactose and one with 5 grams of sucrose (both flasks should have 1 gram of yeast and 100 ml of distilled water).

Each group should hand in...

1) a "Materials and Methods" section. This should be written in full sentences, and should describe what was done in enough detail so that someone else could repeat the experiment (and hopefully obtain similar results).

2) a "Results" section. This should include a description of the results in full sentences, a table with the results, and a hand drawn graph of the results.

This lab report is due (one per lab group) to be handed in by Monday, January 16th, 2012 at 3:45 pm (10% deduction per day late).
